Background

Sandi is a Senior Fiscal and Policy Analyst for the State of Iowa’s Department of Management. She has dedicated over 16 years of her career to local and state budgeting and public policy. Although she has lived in America for over 40 years, her memories of her birthplace in Colombia are as vivid as if she had only left yesterday. As the daughter of an American mother and a Colombian father, Sandi has witnessed the effects and challenges that come with first generation migration. Her level of knowledge acquired from working closely with Departments of Education, Health, Human Services, and Veterans provides her with great insight on how social and economic aspects can both contribute and hinder growth in our communities.
