Luis Leon
Board President
Background
Luis is President and Principal Engineer of LT Leon Associates, a civil engineering firm located in the East Village. He worked for a civil engineering firm in Madison, WI and Des Moines before establishing LT Leon in 2009.
Luis joined the LCI Board in 2016, and is an active member of the Des Moines Area MPO Environment Roundtable and a board member of the Iowa Floodplain and Stormwater Management Association.
Luis resides in West Des Moines and enjoys exploring local parks, conservation areas, and Iowa waters with his wife and three children.
Education
BSE in Civil Engineering from the
University of Iowa.
Volunteerism
Luis helps organize and facilitate LCI’s
Vamos a Pescar program.
He helped establish the non-profit Iowa Floodplain and Stormwater Management Association (IFSMA) chapter in 2010, served as the Treasurer for six years and continues to serve on the board. IFSMA’s primary goal is to promote public awareness and education of proper floodplain and stormwater management across the State.
Luis previously served as the board president for the Des Moines Semi-Pro Baseball League.
